What is noni juice?
Scientifically known as Morinda Citrifola, the noni fruit goes by many names such as Indian mulberry, cheese fruit, ,,,.
The bumpy green fruit is native to Polynesia, Tahiti, Fiji and Hawaii as their volcanic soil and climatic conditions are suitable for the tree to flourish. Since its discovery by Polynesians, the noni fruit has been revered for over 2000 years for its incredible benefits it lends to the body.
To make noni juice, the fruit is first fermented following which, its pulp is extracted and drained.
What are the properties of noni juice?
It may surprise you to know that the noni fruit and its juice are jam-packed with over 170 nutrients.
It is high in Vitamin C, potassium, xeronine and anti-oxidants. Noni juice is also a rich source of phytonutrients whose anti-viral and anti-bacterial compounds are known to repair cellular damage and boost immunity.
There’s a few more immediate ways in which noni can make your hair look better as well, though.
Applying the juice directly to your hair and scalp, or adding a splash to your shampoo, you can clear up dandruff or any fungal issues your scalp may have.
You can apply the juice directly to your scalp
Using a cotton wool ball, or your fingers, you can apply the juice to your scalp once a month or so to deep cleanse and condition your skin.
You need to leave the juice on for 20 minutes, to let it do its work, then wash it out. If you have problems with a dry, itchy scalp, you might like to follow up this treatment with a small dash added to your conditioner.
Noni can help to get rid of head lice
These days, head lice are resistant to many insecticide lotions, so the best ways to get rid of them are physical removal with a comb and more natural lotions to aid this removal.
Head lice seem to really dislike noni and it makes them easier to comb out, especially if the juice is mixed in with a conditioner and left on the scalp and hair for a few hours. Once the hours have passed, do a comb-out and then wash and dry as normal.
You’ll find that the noni juice also helps to soothe the irritation that is so common with a head lice infestation and the anti-bacterial properties prevent the skin infections that can result from scratching the bites.
